Type 2 Su-Ki Amphibious truck (Japanese)

Description The Type 2 Su-Ki was an amphibious truck developed by the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II. Manufactured by Toyota, it was designed to transport supplies directly from cargo ships to shore, addressing the logistical challenges faced during the Guadalcanal campaign. The Su-Ki was based on the Toyota KCY (To-Ki) 4×4 truck and featured a boat-shaped hull made of steel, with a thickness of 5 mm to protect against rough seas and small arms fire. The vehicle was powered by a 6-cylinder gasoline engine, producing 65 horsepower, and could operate in either 2-wheel or 4-wheel drive. It had a maximum speed of 65 km/h on land and was equipped with a propeller for water propulsion. The Su-Ki had an unladen weight of 6.4 tonnes and a carrying capacity of 2 tonnes, with cargo loaded on the rear deck via a loading ramp. Between November 1943 and August 1944, 198 Su-Ki trucks were produced. They were used by Japanese forces on Pacific islands, including the Solomon and Gilbert Islands, as well as Ellice Island.
