This is by far the best sharpening method I’ve used. I have another abrasive sharpening kit but they aren’t as fine as the ones included in this system. For chip carving you really need this sharpening method to achieve the “scary sharpe” for clean cuts. I was becoming frustrated with my chip carving and decided it had to be the sharpeners of my knives. I have the platinum edition cutting knife & modified knife so I knew it wasn’t the knife quality as initially they worked wonderfully. Using my abrasives to sharpen helped but I wasn’t achieving my best carving. I determined the abrasive grit was much higher on these than what I was using so purchased this kit. It’s worth every penny. I have gouged one of the strips when running my knife over it so be cautious as it’s fairly easy to do. Also be cautious when using the leather strop. I just barely touched my thumb with the tip of my modified knife as I was finishing honing, the cut on the back of my thumb was fairly deep but with the sharpness of the knife I never even felt it. I keep band aids handy & rarely cut myself but this cut, over a knuckle was bad, I use super glue on the bad ones once I get the bleeding stopped. It’s not medical grade but it works. So “scary sharpe” was achieved.
