I have ordered basswood boards a number of times from MyChipCarving. They have always been excellent clean wood. My favorite size is the 3/8 inch x 6 inch widths. The depth it generally fine for practicing cuts on both sides if not cut really deep. I use the boards to layout patterns to practice cutting before going to a plate or other object. I just purchased a new book on chip carving and one of the first things that the author suggested was using practice boards for cutting out designs and motifs they intended to use on final works. Good advice and these boards are perfect for that purpose.
